Officer Lookup · data coverage

What records back each jurisdiction.

Officer Lookup is only as good as the public records under it — so here is exactly what dataset, public source, and snapshot back each jurisdiction. Florida leads; six more jurisdictions plus a national source-ledger are live. Every row in the tool and the brief links to its underlying record.

Florida (beachhead)

FDLE/CJSTC certification discipline + incident ledger

Statewide officer certification-discipline rows (revocations, suspensions, accepted relinquishments) maintained by the Criminal Justice Standards and Training Commission, plus a source-backed use-of-force and misconduct incident ledger.

Source: FDLE/CJSTC certification-discipline export; the incident ledger originates from third-party incident datasets (e.g. Mapping Police Violence). Local-agency internal-affairs files and the State Attorney's Brady/Giglio list are separate records — demand them under Chapter 119.

Chicago

CPD complaint records

Complaint-register rows for Chicago Police Department officers, searchable by name or star number.

Source: Published CPD complaint datasets. The full complaint-register (CR) and COPA investigation files are separate records requested under the Illinois FOIA.

Texas

TCOLE certification + employment history

Texas Commission on Law Enforcement certification and employment-history rows.

Source: TCOLE export published via the National Police Index (September 2023 snapshot). Confirm current license status through TCOLE's public lookup; the TCOLE case file is a separate record under the Texas Public Information Act.

New York City

CCRB complaint history

Civilian Complaint Review Board complaint, allegation, and officer rows for the NYPD.

Source: NYC Open Data CCRB datasets, public since the 2020 repeal of N.Y. Civil Rights Law § 50-a. Sealed and mediated complaints do not appear; the CCRB investigation file and NYPD IAB file are separate FOIL requests.

Georgia

GA POST certification + employment history

Georgia Peace Officer Standards and Training certification and employment-history rows.

Source: GA POST export via the National Police Index (May 2024 snapshot). The export carries no decertification field — confirm POST status directly with GA POST before relying on it.

Arizona

AZPOST certification + employment history

Arizona Peace Officer Standards and Training certification and employment-history rows.

Source: AZPOST export via the National Police Index (May 2023 snapshot). No decertification field; the only separation signal is the per-stint separation reason — confirm POST status with AZPOST.

California

CA POST + CDCR certification + employment history

California Peace Officer Standards and Training and CDCR certification and employment-history rows.

Source: CA POST + CDCR export via the National Police Index (data updated 2026 — the freshest officer-records file we carry). SB 1421/SB 16 personnel records and SB 2 decertification files are released per-agency under the California Public Records Act, not as a statewide file.

National

Source-ledger preview

A national source-ledger of officer-record leads, each row linked to its originating public record.

Source: Aggregated public-record sources. Direct any records demand to the agency that produced the underlying row, under that jurisdiction's public-records law.

Snapshots are point-in-time; absence of a row is not absence of a record. Confirm current certification status and identity against the official custodian and your case discovery before relying on any row. This is a navigation aid, not legal advice.
